When he was born
Naked, helpless
He cried, hoping
He’d be fed, cleaned
And swaddled
And pampered
Like a startup

When he was young
No one wanted him
They made him feel
Like an outsider
As if he didn’t belong
They underrated him
Like a small-cap

When he grew up
He aspired to greatness
Set out to change the world
Not realizing how much
It would change him
He overvalued himself
Like a blue chip

He went on selfishly
Borrowing from a future
That never arrived
All who invested in him
Were left bereft
He’d let them down
Like a penny stock

It was not his fault
He was bought and sold
In the market of life
The buyers and the sellers
Debated his value
And in the end
Deemed his life

Wah wa, Satyen ! Your concept of comparing human life with a corporate is very original and novel ! It has brought out the commercialization of human life. A tendency to weigh every interaction in monetary terms ! The moot question is, what’s the value of human life ?!
