Alien

When no one really needs you
When no one really wants you
When you feel like a falling star
You’re an alien… that’s who you are

When you fail to catch anyone’s eye
When the whole world passes you by
When you’re so close, yet so very far
You’re an alien… that’s who you are

When no one cares if you’re alone
When you are cast away as if a stone
When your skin’s so thick, it’s one giant scar
You’re an alien… that’s who you are

When they think you are strange
When they insist you must change
When they wish you’d stay in your bell jar
You’re an alien… that’s who you are

When they don’t care if you’re dead or alive
When by your wits you must survive
When you must choose to make or mar
You’re an alien… that’s who you are

When you can stand no more disdain
When you don’t want to ride on their train
When you’re a hobo in your own boxcar
You’re an alien… that’s who you are

When you don’t care who’s right or wrong
When you only want to sing your own song
When you’ve nothing to buy in their bazaar
You’re an alien… that’s who you are

When you can see clearly through your lens
When your loneliness grants you a sixth sense
When you just follow your own North Star
You’re an alien… that’s who you are
